Karate Classes for All Age Groups

Karate for All

Our karate classes are divided into three main age groups

4 to 7 years – Little Tigers or Peewees

These classes are specifically designed to cater to the learning capability of children at this age. Most kids at this age love to have fun and play games. They love to interact with each other and be involved. They usually enjoy challenges and love to learn new things.

In these classes we put all the things they “love to do” with all the things they “should be doing” like building good body strength, balance, co-ordination, flexibility, agility, good focus and attitudes, listening skills, good manners, awareness of others and good social skills and much more.

Essentially this class (martial arts for kids) is aimed at giving this age group the best possible start they can have, both mentally and physically.

8 to 11 years – Juniors or Primary school age

These classes are designed to build on the Little Tigers classes. Covering many of the same things such as body strength, balance, co-ordination, flexibility, agility, focus, attitude, listening skills, good manners, awareness of others and social skills. But where these classes differ from Little Tigers is that the student is expected to think more about what they are required to do. There is usually a noticeable skill increase in these students, which, in turn, increases our expectations of the student.  The exercises in this class are fun, interactive and challenging, and there is greater focus on working with others, listening and concentrating, being open minded and aware of others and their surroundings. Smart thinking, learning to be a leader and a follower when required, and applying ‘common sense’ are also taught.

12 years and over – Seniors or Adults

The Senior classes are again designed to develop the student’s strengths the same as the Juniors.  These include body strength, balance, co-ordination, flexibility, agility, focus, attitude, listening skills, good manners, awareness of others, social skills and much more.

In this class we have young motivated adults, both male and female.  We also have Mums and Dads training with their children. We have executives, tradies, Uni students and retirees, doctors, lawyers, business owners and many more, all of whom find that Karate helps their other life activities greatly.

In the Senior class the student is expected to be fairly motivated and think a lot more about what they are required to do. There is usually a noticeable skill increase in the adult student as they tend to learn a more quickly than the juniors.

These classes offer more complex combinations of techniques, applications of techniques, pressure points, role modelling, personal standards, ethics, smart thinking and more challenging exercises, depending on the individual.

Our adults classes are hard working but very social too. Students are expected to help and support each other in training. Outside of training we have a great time socially, with local and overseas trips (see Japan photos of our past training trips).
